The German Haemapheresis Centre (GHC) was established in 1987 as a non-profit institution with scientific character. At present two different branches exist at Cologne. At Köln - Sülz mainly special blood transfusions are performed, at Köln - Braunsfeld mainly out patients treatments. A mobile haemapheresis provides for hospital services.

Tasks

Research and development are performed to

  • improve established treatment procedures

  • increase the safety of apheresis treatments

  • introduce new treatment procedures

  • find new indications for therapies

  • develop new donation and treatment technologies

  • introduce innovations, improvements or technical simplifications established elsewhere

Furthermore improvement or introduction of innovative blood transfusion techniques and quality standards for both, apheresis related transfusion and apheresis therapy.
